A weekend of many firsts....

This weekend was filled with many "firsts" for Harris.

Friday night was Harris' first NBA basketball game. Our friends (yes, we do have some) got 4 free tickets to the game. This also included free parking, dinner, and concessions throughout the night. Needless to say, Clay tucked an extra Snickers and Twix away in the diaper bag to take home. Harris was a little afraid of the cheering and loud music initially, but soon settled down. The game was great. It went into double overtime, but the Blazers wound up losing. :( Another highlight of the game was watching a drunk guy who happened to be sitting near us attempt to dance. I wish we had some video of his moves! Maybe we will see him on the next season of So You Think You Can Dance. A random woman sitting behind us offered to hold Harris so I could eat my slice of pizza. She was also sure to say she really didn't mind doing it. NO WAY LADY! I am not going to hand off my baby to a complete stranger! We had a great time.

Saturday night was our 2nd Annual Ugly Sweater Christmas Party. It too was a blast! Clay wore a lovely Christmas themed sweater vest that he found in a co-workers trash can. That lets you know just how nice it was! My sweater had a Vegas theme with beaded playing cards on the front. I will post a picture as soon as we get some of them!

Then on Sunday it started snowing shortly after we woke up. It is still snowing right now! It is crazy for a couple of peeps from Texas. Harris is a little to young to actually play in the snow, but it has made for a nice, lazy day at home. Now I am just keeping my fingers crossed that it keeps up and is too icy for Clay to get to work tomorrow.

Gobble, Gobble, Gobble

Happy Thanksgiving!

We are officially stuffed! We have just finished our second round of food and feel as though we could burst! We really did have quite the feast with turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, jello salad, rolls, and the highlight of the meal was the pumpkin-pecan torte. Mmmmm!!! Shara Dee and I did the cooking while Clay and Larry enjoyed football on our new TV! (Thanks Larry and Shara Dee...Christmas came early yet again) Somehow I think Shara Dee and I got the short end of the stick! Harris even tried some of our meal. I gave him a little taste of jello salad and just a tidge of icing. He seemed pretty indifferent. I was expecting a little more of a reaction, but what are you going to do? Tomorrow we are off to start a new family tradition of cutting down our Christmas tree.

Christmas Comes Early!!!

Well, I thought I would try my hand at the blogging since Kit has been doing it all so far! I got back into town yesterday afternoon, after a very quick and tiring trip to Gaithersburg, MD. I was able to represent our company at an FDA meeting in order to gain understanding of their clinical trial requirements for devices in the electrophysiology catheter business...something new for us. It was both tedious and very interesting...yes, I am a big fat nerd! I missed Kit and Harris so much. I thought that I would be able to get a little more sleep while away, but with flights at 6am and 5:30am I ended up actually getting less...

Anyway, while I was away, Kit and I received our Christmas present to ourselves...early nonetheless. We got a Canon Rebel XTi digital SLR camera. I have been playing around with it today and have attached the above pics that were taken with it. We can't wait to capture Harris growing up with our new toy. We love you all!

Miss you like a turkey bird!!!

Clay left our house at 3:45 this morning and won't be back until Friday. He had to go to Washington D.C. for a meeting of some sort. So Harris and I are just kicking here on the home front. I still remember the first time Clay ever had to travel for work. We were living in Houston and hadn't been married very long at all. I think he was only gone for one night, but you would have thought he was leaving for a month. When he got home from his trip the first words he said to me were, "I missed you like a turkey bird!" WHAT??? Yeah.....I had absolutely no idea what that meant. He just said it was something his family always said when you really missed someone. I still don't really understand what a turkey has anything to do with missing somebody, but I too have learned to use this expression.

So Clay, Harris and I miss you like a turkey bird!!!

Laughs, laughs, and more laughs

Harris has officially begun laughing! He has been doing little wannabe laughs for a little while, but hadn't quite achieved a full giggle, but now he has. Who knew that a baby giggling could be such a huge source of entertainment? It definitely is around our house. Anyway, we attached a little video so that everyone could see what keeps us so mesmerized. It probably won't be quite as exciting for the rest of you (except for DeeDee and G-dad).

Uncle Kyle and and a little bit o' totchos!

Well Harris' Uncle Kyle came to visit a couple of weeks ago. He flew into Seattle and then took the train into Portland. It was so nice that he made such an effort to get here just to meet his nephew. Maybe he wanted to see us a little too! Anyway, it was such a nice visit. We went to the Japanese and Rose Gardens, which were beautiful this time of year. We also played a little Donkey Kong Country for old times sake. We really kick some booty! Kyle is a natural with babies. He jumped right in for bath time, feedings, and just goofing off. I did notice however, that there was no jumping in when it came for diaper changes. What's up with that??? Clay and I were also able to take Kyle for one of our Portland favorites.....totchos! You may be thinking, "Totchos? What are totchos?" Well my little friends, they are tater tot nachos. That's right! Tater tots smoothered in cheese, tomatoes, sour cream, jalapenos, and whatever other goodness you can think of! It sounds a little bizarre, but they are truly delicious. Eating them doesn't help with losing the baby weight, but it's totally worth it! Needless to say, Kyle truly enjoyed his first of many totcho experiences! It was a short trip for Kyle and we hated to see him go, but it sure was great having him here. Now I just need to convince him to move to Portland.....and to the rest of you, you have an open invitation to come for totchos any time! :)

Goofing Off with Harris

Today begins the Cohorns' blogging journey! Harris is now a few days shy of 3 months and has grown so much already. He is smiling nonstop now, ok maybe not nonstop, but at least when he's not eating or crying. Harris attended church again today, it was his 3rd time in the nursery. So far, he has made it through every service without having to have his parent's number called! It's so crazy not having him by our side during the hour and half! We can't believe how much we miss him in that short time. Anyway, here is a video from tonight of Harris and Dad goofing off...enjoy!

Hello there!

Hello there! Clay and I recently decided to start a little blog. This way people can keep up with us. Actually, more importantly, people can keep up with Harris! We realize that most people are only interested in seeing what he is up to and that is fine with us. We aren't very exciting anyway! Keep checking back while we try to become blogspot savvy...
