The Donald Trump Do is Gone....Sianara!

Harris has had a full head of hair since day one. His hair was dark, dark brown at birth and has lightened a bit in his ripe old age of 7 months. As he has grown his hair has also grown. The hair on the top of his head continued to grow and grow while the hair on the sides thinned out and new, lighter, shorter hair grew in. This process resulted in a Donald Trump comb-over. Lovely! The come-over had gotten so long that we could tuck it behind Harris' ear. I have absolutely loved his hair and could not imagine him without it. To be honest, it made me sad to think of his first haircut. I think the real reason it made me sad is because it makes me realize how quickly he is growing up and how soon my baby will be a toddler, and then my toddler will be a little boy. If only I could stop time for a little while! Recently though, Harris' hair had become out of control! Brushing......nothing! Wetting it......nothing! He was our woodsy wild man! Clay and I came to the conclusion it was time to give in and cut it, we had resisted long enough.

Last Sunday we went to Lil Clippers for Harris' very 1st haircut. He was seated in a yellow convertible VW bug for the cut. He sat down and grabbed ahold of the steering wheel like he was a seasoned driver. (When the time for driving does come, let's just hope he doesn't take after his father.) The woman cutting his hair lacked a bit in the personality department, but did a good job cutting his hair. I had to look away a few time because I was a bit concerned that she would stab Harris in the forehead with her scissors, but thankfully she didn't. We are glad we finally got his haircut, but a little sad because the day came too quickly!!!

A few of my favs...

One of my fellow bloggers did a "favorites" blog a while back that I thoroughly enjoyed. I thought I would just copy her clever idea and share of few of my current favs.

Bum Genius

I love the diapering system we use for Harris. I know, diapers? Seriously.........one of my favorites. They are called bum genius and are pocket diapers and have a cloth insert. It is just a couple of extra loads of laundry a week and it lessens the amount of disposables we contribute to landfills. It also saves us quite a bit of money in the long run since they are good from about 10 pounds to about 40 pounds. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that Harris is not still using diapers when he weighs 40 lbs! We still use our fair share of pampers, but for the most part, Harris wears his cute little bum genius diapers.

Sweet Tart Jellybeans

Spring is here which means Easter is around the corner. Easter means that one of my favorite types of candy is in the stores. That's right, the Sweet Tart Jellybeans are currently at a store near you. They are absolutely delicious! It is like putting a tiny piece of pure gold in your mouth! Some of you are probably thinking that they are similar to chewy sweet tarts and oh how mistaken you are. They are a several steps above my friends! I could honestly eat an entire bag a day if I let myself. They are that good! Another little tidbit of info....the pink are the best! Buy some the next time you are at the store. I promise you won't regret it!!!

The Twilight series

I know I am not a 15 year old girl, but as hard as it is to admit, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the Twilight series. I am almost finished with the 4th and final book and can't wait to see how it concludes. The books are addicting. They ar
e just quick, easy reads, but manage to suck you in. I haven't enjoyed them as much as the Harry Potter series, but they have been fun. Maybe I am a 15 year old girl....vampires and wizards?

Cousins!!!

Clay, Harris, and I flew to Tennessee last weekend to meet the newest addition to the family.....Ensley! When we got to Tennessee, DeeDee and G-dad were there to pick us up, but we were shocked to see that Ashley and Ensley were also there to greet us. What a treat! Ensley is an absolutely beautiful baby. Ashley is now on my bad list because not only was her labor much, much shorter than mine, but she also apparently has an "angel" baby. (That is a term used in the book The Baby Whisperer and according to the book, Harris was NOT an "angel" baby. What does that lady know?!?) She really is a great newborn....very mild tempered and happy. Seriously, I think she only cried a total of 15 minutes the entire time we were there! Philip and Ashely are doing so well and are truly, truly happy. Seeing Harris and Ensley together was so neat. Although they are not really aware of each other right now, I couldn't help but imagine the fun they will have in the years to come. Disney World, tag, Santa, trips to Texas, and many, many adventures of which I am sure I cannot even fathom. I also can envision a little tattling, tears, and tantrums, but won't dwell on those. I hope that they will be great friends as they grow up and have a special relationship like Clay and Ashley are fortunate to have with their cousins. We had a fantastic time in Tennessee and are so thankful we were able to meet Ensley. We are already counting down the days until we see the Baker family again!
